Procare Software proudly announces Procare v10, the product of years
of experience in the field of childcare center management software. We would
like to take this opportunity to brief you on some important elements of
the application, and in particular on how we plan to introduce it to the
Procare community. There are some subjects you need to think through, some
work you may need to do, and some things you need to know in order to prepare
for that transition. Procare v10 is not an update of Version 9... it is
a new product with some new concepts.

New Procare v10 Concepts
- The “People” concept: All people connected to your child care will
now reside in a single database table. This makes it easy for you to
assign them multiple, interconnected roles. Staff might also be parents,
parents might be authorized to pick up children of other families, anyone
could be an emergency contact for a different family.
- The “Billing Box”: Charges are now tied directly to each child.
Charges for services may be billed to the primary payer (parent) on
each account (divorced parents will have separate accounts) or agencies,
in any configuration. All are stored in the child's Billing Box.
- Record Auditing: Ledger and time card records can now be audited
for review of all changes made to them.

Procare v10 Release Schedule
- We plan to implement Procare v10 in a phased fashion, beginning
September 30. We will start with the childcare centers who wish to do
original data entry If you wish to be in this group, please
let us know by
emailing us.
- We'll move to centers who wish to convert their existing data.
- Modules for Payroll, Budgets, Expenses and Financial Reporting will
be included in a release later this year. Centers licensed for these
modules now will implement Procare v10 at that time.
What is your 'Cutover Strategy'?
- For a short period of time before conversion, use v10 with an empty
database. Experiment by creating families and employees and learning
key functions. Understand that you can't learn everything instantly,
and take time with our learning tools to become comfortable with the
basics of the program. Then convert your data!
- Operate v9 and v10 in parallel, maintaining both for a short time.
Compare the results between them and move to v10 at your own pace.
- Your database conversion can only be done once! After it
is done, the records will be "as of" the date of conversion.

- Yes, Procare v10 is compatible with the upcoming release of Microsoft's
Windows 7 operating system!
- If you run Windows XP on your main computer (the one that hosts
your database), you will need to have Service Pack 3 (SP3) installed.
XP client computers (individual workstations) can run either Service
Pack 2 or 3.
- More on System requirements can be found
here.
- If you use Procare for more than one location you’ll need to decide
how to host your data.
- If you need remote access to all locations, or need to run combined
financial reports, you’ll want a single database running across
a VP (virtual private network). If you purchase data hosting from
us, we will combine your individual location data files into an
integrated database.
- You may host your own data, and combine your data files using
our data conversion software.
- Alternatively, you might run a separate database at each location, running on a standard LAN (local area network). This choice makes sense if each location operates as an independent entity doing all
the computer work on site and printing their own separate reports.
